Week 6 Super Crit
Caroline's Critique
- It's a nice idea to talk to riders as well as drivers
- It's also a good idea to include more characters and their designs are working well
- Prefer moving image over still but need to include text with it to explain it
- Make all illustrations for social media animated gifs
- Might not need a booklet if going with a social media campaign - think of how someone from outside NZ will encounter your project
- Tourists and urban people are going to use devices so design for that platform - they will be looking for info on the internet (so website and social media are the most important)
- UX/UI - Design for cell phone viewing
- Show both good and bad behaviour for the educational side as people may be more likely to adopt new behaviour if they see the consequences of unsafe behaviour
- Make the car more obvious in the illustrations
- (In relation to the Maori boy riding bareback) On the East coast you're not likely to see people wearing helmets, but as it's a safety campaign you have to show the correct behaviour for both parties
- The illustrations are good with colour - more impact. Go extremely colourful, bold and bright!
- Show different types of cars in the various different situations, practice tracing cars that are more modern styles
- It's walking the fine line between being lighthearted and playful while still being educational- which is great
- Focus on animated gifs for social media + website for education and in-depth info
- Perhaps could piggy-back on apps people would use when traveling NZ e.g. when setting a journey in Maps a pop up tells the users of the equine road users they may encounter along this route
- Get excited - this could take legs and develop into something that's real!
Peer Critique
- 'Dear Driver' sounds like the beginning of a letter so could try a handwritten font
- White booklet operates the best for the user while the blue booklet makes it feel like the user has to work backwards
- Subtle animation would make the illustrations more interesting
- The full colour illustrations are more striking
- Could try seeing what simple highlights and shading looks like to enhance the illustrations
- Everyone likes how playful it is - for a safety message it isn't off-putting
