I had 910 responses to my survey!

People participated in my survey from all regions in New Zealand, which gives my data a fantastic spread and also shows how the issue of equine road user safety is felt all over the country.

I found that most people use the road for; recreation, exercise, to get somewhere, because they have no where else to ride etc.

In a result which clearly shows that my topic is an issue in New Zealand, the average rating out of 5 for how serious of an issue did the respondent think equine road safety is was 4.48! This is a fantastic piece of data to use in my proposal to help highlight the issue.

The speed that motorists overtake at was the main complaint of survey participants, followed by passing too closely.

The majority of these answers support my claims that motorists lack understanding/awareness of how to appropriately behave around equine road users, but lots also draw attention to how motorists are often impatient.

The answers to this questions will hopefully give me lots of interesting examples of experiences with horses on the road that I can then use for my illustrations.

This question reveals how confused the public is about what the road code actually states about how to behave around horse on the road. This will support my proposal to create a website that extends off of the NZTA website and contains my humorous illustrations plus disambiguous information about recommended speeds, distances etc.
